Irony

This week I have been learning about irony. There is 3 different types of irony; verbal irony, dramatic irony and situational irony. They all mean stuff to do with opposite of what you expect.

“Wow you're the best cook Mum.” Jonny says sarcastically to his mum, Jonny’s mum had burnt the cookies!!! She says “You would definitely do better.” Sarcastically back. Jonny says “Ok mum” Jonny makes a batch of cookies and they are perfectly cooked even though he is 8 years old. “Oh well, you can bake all the cookies now.”

Science

For Science we made a earth model, we learnt stuff about an axis, rotation, the sun and the earth rotate. It was fun but Thomas accidentally made New Zealand look like a jandel. We used a torch as the sun and we then made this stop-motion.

Term Reflection.

This term I have learnt how to strengthen my maths knowledge so I can answer the easier questions much faster. I have also learnt how to work cooperatively with Josh, Angus and Thomas.

I feel proud of doing a essay with Angus. I am also proud that I finish my literacy early. I have learnt that belonging is when you feel like you need to be somewhere with someone. I have demonstrated our school values by helping the year 5-6 hockey team for winter sports. Next term I need to work on my spelling.

Heroes Journey Essay

 Heroes Journey essay.

Introduction

Have you ever compared Bob the Builder with a short film? Didn’t think so, anyway for my essay I will be comparing Bob the Builder Season 3 Episode 9 and La Luna's central characters journeys, I will see how different and how similar they are. I chose these short shows/movies because they both have memorable story lines and I can know who the central characters are.

Who made the Hero’s Journey and what it is.

Joseph Campbell made the Hero’s Journey. I will explain the hero's journey. The hero starts with their normal life, then they have a call to adventure, the hero might then need assistance, the hero then departs from their ordinary life to their special world. When they arrive in their special world they get a trial or many trials, then they face the hardest thing, then they have a crisis, the heroes least favourite hour, they will get hurt or possibly die but they come back. They find the treasure they always needed, they get a result like getting chased or being a god like image to the person/monster. They then return to their new life. Their new life will have changed a lot maybe their a god or anything like that or they might have learned new skills. Then everything goes back to normal with RESOLUTION, then back to normal life.

Their Normal Life, Assistance and Call to Adventure.

Bob is a builder and La Luna is a fisherman's son. They both have similar jobs because it is a job normal people would have. Bob gets called to adventure by SPUD saying “lofty is on his side and cant get up.” Bob is nervous because his worker's life is on the line. La Luna sees the moon, he seems confused, then his dad puts a ladder to the moon. La Luna gets assisted by his dad and granddad. They both get assistance from people but one gets told and the other one sees.

Trails.

Bob encounters his friend who has fallen over and can't get up, Spud and Scoop help Bob to help his friend up. Then they feel happy once it's done. In La Luna a star crashes on the moon and La Luna gets rid of it. He feels proud that he helped. They help people and that is how they are similar. They don't really have trials.

Crisis.

They both earn understanding.

Return To Normal.

Bob helps his friend get up and scares the scarecrow so he stops scaring people then they construct a road then they live happily for one more episode.
La Luna goes up on the moon with his dad and grandpa. When he’s up there a star like asteroid crashes on the moon, his grandpa and dad are arguing. He taps the star and hears that one of the stars is out of tune. He climbs the star and taps it with a hammer then it turns into a hundred stars then they sweep the moon so it's a quarter moon.

Personal Journey Comparison.

The hero’s journey reminds me of when we walked to Spencer Park because I never gave up and kept on trying. When I got there it was satisfying. Like when Bob lifts his friend up he will feel relief and satisfaction and when La Luna finds out the problem and fixes it.

Focus Writing 2

Once there was a daredevil, this daredevil was called Tog Lomar. Tog was always a curious boy ever since he was 3 years old when he got his toy dog Jeffry-star. He always believed that as long as he had Jeffry-star, he would never be harmed. His mum knew one day that he would get hurt, but surprisingly he never did get hurt. This story is about when Tog finally learnt that his teddy was not lucky but he was. It all started on September 12th 1998 when he was going to do his biggest stunt ever. He was going to drift from Christchurch all the way to Karamea. Only five weeks earlier he had learnt how to drive stick, and only two weeks earlier he learnt how to drift, he was nervous but not that scared because he had Jeffry-star. He drifts and when he gets there he realises Jeffry-star is gone. He then realised he didn’t need Jeffry-star.

Focused Writing.

There is a girl named Stacy Jamal whose great grandpa was Albert Einstein. All of her teachers expected lots of good work from Stacy, so Stacy studied and studied trying to please her teachers but she knew her heart wasn’t like her great granddad and she knew she wasn’t smart she was actually into drifting her dads Nissan Murano Cabriolet, she wanted to be a professional drifter just like her star Mad Maddy. Mad Maddy drifted an SDS Minivan which was Postman Pat's car. One day Stacy stood up to her teachers and said “I am not like my granddad, I want to be a drifter.”
